Engagement
On August 19th, 2004, we left Dallas for our first vacation alone, together.
We had debated on where to go, but I eventually won out saying that I really wanted to go to Turner Falls in Oklahoma since I had driven by so many times on my way from Nebraska and Iowa to Texas and vice versa, and never had a chance to stop and see what it was like.
We rented the "Love Nest" through Arbuckle Paradise Cabins.
It rained all morning and was still cold outside when we
arrived at our cabin, which was bright yellow and up the side of a little mountain
.
We climbed the steps and on our door was a heart with love-birds
.
We went inside and looked around
, and began to unpack.
Adam suggested that we go to Turner Falls to go swimming. I told him I really didn't feel like it because it was really cold out.
However, he finally talked me into it and we drove over to the park.
We parked and started walking towards the falls
and did some exploring on the way over in a little 'cabin' on the hill
.
I was inside taking photos
when I realized the entire wall next to me was covered in spiders
.
That really freaked me out so we continued onto the falls instead of hanging around to take more pictures.
It was so cold outside that the park and water were basically empty.
We got to the side of the swimming area underneath the waterfall and Adam said we should get in.
We stuck our feet in but the water was very cold and I kept telling him that I didn't want to get in even though
he was practically begging me! I didn't understand why until he kneeled down and pulled a
ring out of his pac-man swim trunks and asked me to marry him!!!
(I can't really remember what he said, it was so unexpected and I was so surprised!)
So, after I realized what was happening and said yes, we got in and swam over underneath the
waterfall where there was a rock you could rest on. After we got out, we took a picture of ourselves,
then headed back to our cabin to eat dinner .
The next day, we got up and headed over to Arbuckle Wilderness.
There are so many animals you can feed
while you are driving through, they walk right up to your window
and some even try to stick their heads inside
.
One was licking his lips
and one was trying to talk to us
.
They also have an area where you can walk around, we got friendly
with the camels
.
